December 17, 2008

hpim1069 this book was randomly selected in the librabry to use in a project. The next photo is the  note card sized peice of art work that was crafted from an exert and a magazine clipping that went nicely with the quote.

These shapes where taken from the EUC sketches and then made into simple figures, cut out, inked and then taped back into their original position. These shapes will later be transformed into the Ink Shapes With Lines and Bars

EUC sketches

October 15, 2008

These sketches where done at the EUC with no knowledge as to what we where going to use them for. We were told to find Implied shapes, Functional shapes, Non functional shapes, and Ephemeral shapes. though Ephemeral shapes seemed to be the hardest shapes to find.

Ink Shapes with Line Rules

October 15, 2008

These compositions where originally plain ink shapes but then we where given a set of rules to follow pertaining to the lines and bars we where to compose on the individual pieces. I tried to make the bars and lines work with the shapes at hand.

October 15, 2008

These credit card sized compositions where intended to help the artist view one section of a composition and also help the artist think about the composition at hand and how to compose a piece.

Ink and Stick Sketch

October 15, 2008

My Ink and Stick Sketch did not turn out exactly how I would have liked but the process was fun and it taught a valuable lesson that I needed to learn…. just because somethings are overlapping and it looks like a mess at first it can turn into something beautiful and interesting to look at.

Tate Street Coffee

October 15, 2008

Since Tate Street Coffee is one of my favorite places in the world, this is not the first sketch that I have done of it. But this view is looking back towards the back of the shop where the nostalgia does not over power the walls.

Value Piece “Walking”

October 15, 2008

For my Value project I used graphite and value gradients to show the amount of time it takes me to walk from my dorm to different classes. Notice how the ovals are on the edge of the shadow in every view. This represents the point at which I reached the class. The figure in which the shadow is larger represents the shortest walk. as the shadow shrinks and the light value ensues it represents a longer walk.

Eve Pieces

October 15, 2008

For my Eve Impersonation I was told to make two pieces in order to make up for a day of class that I missed. But as i was making the two pieces i noticed that they coincided nicely any when layered they looked like one more complete piece. The layering effect gives them  some depth as well as adding subtle details that can only be seen when close up.
